Employees in this demanding position must have the training, experience and ability to perform the complex duties and responsibilities required to provide the administrative, technical and clerical support required by the Public Works Director.  Employee is responsible for performing a broad range of duties requiring advanced skills in data entry/word processing, preparation of complex correspondence and payrolls, excellent proof reader, keen writing skills, research issues, inventory management, and report preparation.  Employee must be able to exercise independent judgment based on a general knowledge of the operations of the City, with minimal supervision, and obtain from, and provide information to, the public, City officials and employees.  May supervise other support staff.


This is a full-time, hourly position starting at $12.69 per hour with great benefits to include paid holidays, sick and vacation leave, medical, dental, life insurance and retirement plans. Applications will be accepted for this position until filled.

This position installs, repairs and maintains water and sewer system components, according to City standards and regulations; ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. This position requires mechanical aptitude to exercise good independent judgment. Subject to call out in emergencies, scheduled to work nights, weekends and/or holidays on occasion as necessary. This position is supervised by the Crew Leader with ultimate oversight by the Public Works Supervisor. Requires high school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year experience working in water and sewer line construction and maintenance or comparable experience.  Please see the attached job description for specific details to include any information and/or documentation for special license/certification.

Responds to calls for assistance to protect citizens during emergencies involving fire suppression, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Hazardous Materials, extinguishing fires, executing rescues, and other public safety activities within the City of Brooksville or as otherwise assigned.  Protects the lives and property of the residents they serve.  Subject to be called in to work during times of natural disasters or other emergencies.  Position is supervised by the Captain or designee.
